About Us

Our purpose
We are people who care passionately about our countryside and campaign for it to be protected and enhanced for the benefit of everyone. The countryside is one of England's most important resources but its beauty, tranquillity and diversity are threatened in many different ways.

What we do
We are an organisation which campaigns to protect and enhance the countryside for the benefit of all. As well as highlighting problems and threats to the countryside, we carry out careful research, canvass opinion and advocate solutions. Through reasoned argument, we seek to influence decision makers at every level - from individual landowners, developers and parish councils to Number 10 Downing Street. We also try to influence opinion formers at every level - from local weekly newspapers to national broadcasters. We often work in partnership with other bodies at local and national level.

Local and National
We are a registered charity with about 1000 members with many more active supporters. Anyone who supports our aims is encouraged to join [ through National Website here
].
Nationally we are part of a network that has a branch in every county each with their own district groups. In the Southwest, seven branches (Avonside, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire)
of CPRE work collectively to influence regional decision making processes.
