Legacies

If you share our beliefs about protecting our precious heritage of beautiful Wiltshire countryside, consider leaving a gift to the Wiltshire Branch of the CPRE in your will.

Your legacy, no matter what the amount, will help us ensure that developments are sensitive to the countryside and that housing sprawl is kept in check.  With your help, there will be a green tranquil and beautiful England for all of our grandchildren to enjoy.

“ I’m leaving a legacy to [Wiltshire] CPRE because I want my grandchildren to
inherit a green, tranquil England, not one overlaid by tarmac and concrete.  When
I go I want to be pushing up the daisies.” -a CPRE Supporter

Sir Max Hastings writes:

“At CPRE we are waging a passionate struggle to prevent the countryside from falling victim to developers chasing quick profits.  We believe it will be a tragedy if our rural heritage is sacrificed to unnecessary building and exploitation.  If you care as much as we do about our fields, woods and hills, please think of helping the battle to save them by speaking to your solicitor about leaving a gift for CPRE in your will.

“CPRE is not a Nimby organisation – we accept that some building is necessary.  However, development of green places can only be acceptable if it is in sympathy with the landscape.  This common-sense approach means that, for decades, our opinions and research have been respected by decision-makers in Whitehall and local government.

“Every year, we achieve important victories against unacceptable housing schemes and ill-conceived road projects.  But we are fighting against developers happy to pour millions of pounds into legal battles that offer them huge rewards at the expense of our heritage.

“Unlike the builders, as a charity CPRE depends on the generosity of lovers of the countryside like yourself to pay for every planning case we fight and each research document we publish.  To continue the struggle and secure our future, we need your support.

“… Remember, when meadows, hills and moors disappear under concrete, they are gone forever.  Together, we can stop this happening.

“Thank you.”
