Garden visit to Westwind, Manton

Westwind garden

CPRE members and guests spent a lovely early summer afternoon at Westwind, Manton Drove, Manton near Marlborough. The owner, Gerry Campbell-Sharp, opened up her gardens to us as a fundraising event and both Gerry and her daughter Kate, made us very welcome.

View of Westwind gardenWestwind is an informal, gently sloping country garden set in 4 acres including a 2½ acre downland meadow and woodland. It is home to a rich assortment of wildlife and has an abundance of mature trees, a cottage garden, long beds full of herbaceous plants, and the Armillary Garden which is home to 10 raised beds absolutely stuffed to the brim from April to October with roses, perennials and annuals, truly a garden for all seasons.

The terrace area below the house was perfect for afternoon tea (and cake) and the garden was full of interest and surprises around every corner.

We will be having more gardens visits next year, so please watch this space.
