Wine Tasting at Great Chalfield Manor

The annual CPRE Wiltshire Wine Tasting was held on 31st October at Great Chalfield Manor, hosted by Robert Floyd and his wife Patsy.

 

Our wine expert on the night was Richard Volpi, who presented “Wines of Italy – from Top to Toe”.

The tasting took place in the Great Hall, recently home to Thomas Cromwell aka Mark Rylance and the crew filming the second series of Wolf Hall, which gave the evening a great atmosphere, especially as it was Halloween.

Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and learnt a lot about the wines, the viniculture, the terroir and the wonderful country that is Italy.

A fascinating and very illuminating evening – look out for next year’s event and be sure to book early as places are limited.
