Volunteering opportunities as a photographer

Introduction to volunteering opportunities in photography

We need one or more photographers – for Wiltshire countryside shots, especially to include people.

We’re looking for volunteer photographers to support the charity at events and for our digital and paper publications, providing images for a range of media and library use. Volunteers need to have their own photography equipment to be able to produce high resolution images. It would be helpful to have previous experience as a photographer with a portfolio.  Ideally you will also catalogue all images and maintain our photographic library.

You will be working to a brief:

  • Photographing people (all ethnicities, candid and posed) enjoying the countryside.
  • Photographing countryside, housing, rights of way, roads, verges etc. local to Wiltshire.
  • Photographing scenes to illustrate specific campaigns.
  • Attend events when requested.
  • Title all photographs.
  • Optionally, add keyword tags to all photographs and maintain our image library.

What skills and experience are required?

  • Have experience as a photographer, either professionally or as a hobby.
  • Be able to follow a brief provided to you by us.
  • Be able to work independently at events, as it is usually a fast-moving atmosphere with lots going on.
  • Have good people skills and be creative and able to take initiative to get the bests shots possible on the day.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic, organised, confident and motivated
