Wiltshire Local Plan Scoping Consultation – closing soon – add your views

Wiltshire Council are in the first stage of the preparation process for a new Local Plan.  They are asking a number of questions.  The outcome of this Local Plan and its huge rise in housing numbers, lack of economic growth, inadequate infrastructure and environmental damage is hugely important.

Please try to read through some of the questions in the scoping consultation and answer them if you can.

The CPRE Wiltshire Branch will be submitting its own response.

Wiltshire Council has commenced a Scoping Consultation on the preparation of the new Wiltshire Local Plan. The consultation starts on 2 September 2026 and closes at 23:59 on 30 September 2026.

This is the first formal stage in preparing the new Wiltshire Local Plan and provides communities, businesses, organisations and other stakeholders with an early opportunity to help shape its development. We are inviting views on six questions under the following topics:

• What the Wiltshire Local Plan should contain; and
• How the Council should engage with communities and stakeholders during the preparation of the Plan.

The main consultation document, the Wiltshire Local Plan Scoping Document, sets out the specific questions that we are asking. Supporting documents, including the Wiltshire Baseline Survey of Area (2026-2045) report and Draft Wiltshire Local Plan Engagement Strategy, are also available to review.

Representations must be submitted by 23:59 on 30 September 2026. Responses should be made through the online consultation portal:
