CPRE Wiltshire is deeply saddened by the death of our patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty was not only our patron but a deep and committed countryside lover and supporter of rural life in every aspect of her life. Her love of landscapes, animals and plants; her understanding of rural communities and their challenges, of the beauty and uniqueness of green and pleasant land.
The second Elizabethan age – the longest reign in British history – is a reign which will be remembered and talked about in years to come.
She was a monarch who was held in the highest regard both here and around the world.
She embodied the best of qualities: Of duty, service and love for this nation.
She has been the embodiment of our national identity and the mother of a nation.
The pledges she made on her 21st birthday in 1947 were upheld every single day of her reign.
May she Rest in Peace.
